The Nigerian Society of Victoria Incorporated (NSV) was formed to serve the people with a Nigerian heritage, links and those with an interest about Nigeria.
Vision
Employing the strength in unity to create change and empower members with the right values transferable from one generation to the next.
Mission
To create a platform to bring together all Nigerians and those of Nigerian links and Nigerians resident in the State of Victoria with the aim of enhancing the social/welfare/health/economic status of its members, while at the same time drawing positive awareness within the larger Australian Society and indeed the World to the rich human and cultural intellect and gifting of the Nigerian kind.
This will be achieved in an atmosphere of community interaction, friendship, education, celebration, spirit of cooperation, respect for diversity, commitment to social justice, guided by a high standard of ethics and integrity.
Objectives
- to promote a positive Nigerian identity for all
- to promote the development of Nigerian knowledge to the global village and the Australian public
- to provide support to our members, including acting as a resource centre
- to support our members upon bereavement
- to facilitate, establish and improve communication within the Nigerian community and other communities including federal, state, local government organisations and other bodies,
- To represent our community to other communities and government bodies, including joining with them, to achieve mutual goals.
The guiding principle towards achieving our aims and objectives is steered by our constitution.
